RESULTS FROM INDEPENDENT SURVEY TO BE USED TO SHAPE FUTURE POLICIES
UK POTATO growers have just one week left to respond to a survey into the country’s farm assurance schemes.
The independent evaluation announced by the Commissioners of the UK Farm Assurance Review is now well underway and potato growers are being urged to respond if they haven’t already.
The project, jointly set up by the National Farmers’ Union (NFU) and AHDB, along with NFU Cymru, the Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) and NFU Scotland (NFUS), is focussed on repurposing UK farm assurance for a post-Brexit world.
Lead Commissioner Dr David Llewellyn said there has been a strong response from all parts of the UK.
The survey will still be open for growers to complete until August 31st, when it will close.
“This means that the next few weeks will provide the last opportunity to complete the survey. We encourage all growers who have not yet done so, to participate so that we can hear your views and you can help provide evidence for the review that will assist in the development of its recommendations,” said David. “We want to know about your experiences of farm assurance so that we hear directly from the farming community on this very important issue.”
The survey takes around 10 – 15 minutes to complete and can be found here.
As part of the ongoing evidence gathering, there will be direct engagement by the commissioners with other key sector stakeholders.
“With farmers responding directly to the Commissioners, and not via the sponsors of the review, we intend to ensure that the work will be both independent and transparent and that we can hear from a wide cross section of those engaged with farm assurance systems from across the UK”, David said.
A report on the independent review of the UK Farm Assurance System is planned for the end of this year.
